Creative Work
Crafting vivid narratives through short films, weaving words into poetry, and bringing ideas to life in zines. My creative work is a kaleidoscope of imagination.

We don't talk anymore
Taking the example of the cultural, social and historical significance of Afro hair braiding techniques, Tlamelo Makati’s short film explores the attempt to eradicate traditional knowledge – and its survival. The film was made in the context of the 2024 Residency Programme which focused on “Knowledge and Power.” The participants considered the question as to how knowledge sharing between the global North and the Global South could be organised within the science system and beyond. Under the leadership of annually changing hosts, the Humboldt Residency Programme enables Humboldtians and other academics to work together with civil society actors, journalists, entrepreneurs and artists on a common topic in the context of a residency.

kNOw
As part of the 2024 Humboldt Residency Programme, which tackled “Power & Knowledge,” bringing a transdisciplinary cohort together to confront global imbalances in how knowledge is produced, I co-created a zine titled kNOw, a mixed-media publication of essays, illustrations, book notes, and reflections that invites broader audiences to question who gets to define knowledge and whose voices travel.

Poetry
My poetry delves into the depths of human experience, exploring themes of emotion, healing, anger, and resilience. Through vivid language and honest reflection, I transform lived realities into art that speaks to both the individual and the collective. Each piece captures the complexity of being human, uncovering the truths often left unspoken and the emotions that shape our inner worlds. My work seeks not only to express, but to connect, offering readers a space for recognition, reflection, and renewal.
